A three-car pileup on the Southwest Freeway near the Shepherd exit caused a major backup on the highway Tuesday afternoon. 
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A three-vehicle accident on the Southwest Freeway had traffic at a standstill Tuesday evening. All three vehicles flipped over on the outbound lanes of 59 near Shepherd. Police arrested a driver who may have been drinking. They say he hit a vehicle and caused the other crashes. "Saw the cars turn over. It was a domino effect. One hit the other," said witness Alicia Gainer. "It went flying, turned over, the other one went flying and turned over and I ran down and basically assisted with the first car with the lady that was stuck in it."
The accident caused a big traffic backup for a couple of hours. We do not know the extent of injuries to those in the crash.
