Body found in Buffalo Bayou downtown

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a murder in downtown Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, a homeless man's body was found partially submerged in the Buffalo Bayou under the bridge by the downtown post office.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Police said shell casings were found at the scene, suggesting the man was shot, but they cannot confirm the cause of death.

Friends of the man told us his nickname is Detroit. He was in his 30s or 40s, officials said.

Investigators initially said there were two bodies in the bayou. What they thought was a second body turned out to be a sleeping bag, they said.
