Shootings in TX City leave 1 dead, 1 injured

TEXAS CITY, TX (KTRK) -- There were two separate shootings last night Texas City, one of them deadly. And the search is still on for all of those involved.

The first shooting was reported just after 9pm when the victim walked into the emergency room at Mainland Medical Center. The man had a gunshot wound to his ribs and a wound on his face.

The victim gave police little information on the shooting before he was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight. Police did find a car that had been set on fire on Cobb Street in west Texas City, which might have been connected.

Then just before 11pm, the call came in of a second shooting, this one at the Bourbon Street Bar on Texas Avenue.

Police found one man who was shot three times in the back. He was 38 years old and was pronounced dead at the scene. Now police are looking for his alleged killer. Witnesses have given them a name of a possible suspect, Texas City police said.

"We responded to a man with a gun who had shot at least one person, maybe two or three. Upon our officers' arrival, there was one man down in front of the bar who had been shot numerous times," said Captain Brian Goetschius with the Texas City Police Department. "The suspect actually went in the bar and also shot at another man through a bathroom door and then he left."

Fortunately, that man wasn't hurt.

Anyone with information in either case is asked to call the Texas City Crime Stoppers at 409-948-8477.
