Another suspicious fire breaks out in SW Houston

See it on TV? Check here. HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking into another apartment fire they say was set on purpose.

This time, crews were called to the Linda Square apartments off of South Gessner and Stroud in southwest Houston. The fire started in the hallway of the complex at a time when most were sleeping. The good news everyone got out OK.

Some apartments sustained mainly smoke damage. But firefighters say this looks suspicious and now arson investigators are looking into whether or not the fire here can be linked to a series of similar fires.

"This definitely looks suspicious. There was no reason for any fire to be there right now," said District Chief Douglas Harrison with the Houston Fire Department. "We have arson coming out to take a look at it. Like I said, there have been some other ones in the area that are similar to this."

Most recently, a unit of townhomes at Woodway and South Ripple Creek was the target of an arsonist. It was ruled intentional after investigators discovered the perpetrator doused a small hallway and staircase with gasoline and then lit it.

A spokesperson with the Houston Fire Department gave us a list of 30 fires in west and southwest Houston area over the last year. Investigators are now trying to determine if they all connected.

Anyone with information on any of these fires should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
