Arson investigating suspicious apartment fire

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Arson investigators are looking into what caused a fire at an apartment in southwest Houston.

A maintenance worker called 9-1-1 after spotting the fire at the apartment on South Post Oak Ln. near Pinewold around 8:45pm Saturday.

No one was inside the apartment when the blaze erupted, officials said.

The unit below has some water and smoke damage and the unit where the fire started has heavy fire damage.

Firefighters say the flames spread to the attic, but were extinguished before they could spread to other units.

According to authorities, the renters are out of town, so the fire is suspicious.
