HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Alcohol is believed to have played a role in an accident in north Houston. The driver of a Kia Spectra was turning on to Veterans Memorial from Shepherd when he lost control and hit a traffic light pole. The driver had to be taken to the hospital.
Police suspect the driver was drunk.

Get more Local » HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a man suspected of a home invasion and assault led officers on a chase last night in northwest Harris County. It ended just before 11pm at a home on Elm Tree Estates and Prairie Village when the suspect sent the car crashing into a garage. That driver has still not been found.
Earlier in the evening, sheriff's deputies took a call about a a home invasion, in which someone in the home was attacked. A deputy arrived to see the suspect leaving, so he chased him through the subdivision.
According to the sheriff's office, the suspect bailed out of his vehicle, allowing the car to go into the house. The man then rolled under the deputy's patrol unit.
Still, he jumped up, and took off.
"At this point, he's definitely facing evading charges, and assault on the other call," said Sgt. Mike Harvey with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
According to investigators, the suspect knew an individual at the house he broke into. Authorities believe the suspect changed clothes at some point. They searched, using an air and K-9 unit, but never found him.

Police say the man who caused it was 33 year old Theodore Hargrove, 33, whose blood test revealed was high on the drug PCP when he ran a red light on the Southwest Freeway feeder road at Kirby, and ran into another car waiting to leave the parking lot.
HPD Sgt. S. Sorge said, "He side-impacted the vehicle at a high rate of speed. Two occupants inside the vehicle died on the scene.
Hargrove will go before a judge at the criminal courthouse on charges that he killed the couple. But it's not the first time Hargrove has been in trouble. He has a long criminal history, beginning with a robbery charge when he was 18. Three years later he was indicted twice for murder. Those charges were dismissed.
But Hargrove served time behind bars for evading arrest, drugs, and driving with a suspended license. He was due in court again in just two weeks for allegedly running from a METRO police officer in January of this year. He was out on bond when the double fatality happened.
"It's the worst kind of situation," Sgt. Sorge said. "You know, just over here trying to make some purchases at the gas station, and their lives were tragically ended so quickly."
The medical examiner's office tells me they have identified the two victims as Ricardo Quinton and Meagan Jones. There is no cause of death listed on either victim at this point.

It happened near Kirby just before 1am. Police say the driver somehow lost control and hit a red light pole, knocked over two street signs, then rolled to a stop at the U-turn underneath the freeway.
Another driver crashed into one of those signs spewed across the feeder road a short time later, disabling his car.
All of the debris has since been cleared.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a fatal accident on the southeast part of town, where a vehicle reportedly slammed into a parked big rig this morning.
It happened on the South Loop westbound near Calais. Houston police say the driver of the black SUV went off the freeway, through a chain-link fence and struck the rear of the 18-wheeler parked there.
Police say speed was likely a factor, but at this time there is no indication of drug or alcohol use.
We've learned at least one person has died.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is recovering in the hospital after deputies say he ran into the side of a moving truck.
It happened around 9pm on Cypress North Houston near Telge.
Investigators say the man was allegedly drunk and running through parking lots when he ran into the street and right into a truck driving down the road. He went to the hospital with head and leg injuries but is expected to be OK.
The truck driver will not face any charges for the incident.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A train slammed into an SUV in northeast Houston this morning after the driver ran out of gas on the tracks.
Authorities say the driver ran out of gas on the tracks on Laura Koppe near Hirsch. The vehicle flipped over after it was hit by the train. Amazingly, were told no one was hurt in the crash.
There is no word if any charges will be filed.
The intersection was being cleared for the morning traffic.

It happened at a Blockbuster on West Gray near Dunlavy near downtown. Investigators arrived and found a storefront window shattered. The window was boarded up a little after 11pm.
There's no word on the cause or any injuries.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A driver crashed a sports utility vehicle into a west Houston restaurant Wednesday evening. It happened just before 8pm at James Coney Island in the 700 block of Town & Country Blvd. at Town & Country Village off Beltway 8.
According to investigators, a teen-aged driver was going to park outside the restaurant, but he driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
The SUV took out a large window and a corner of the restaurant.
Officials said no one was injured in the accident.

Leonel Patino is shedding tears over the injuries his son Luis sustained when a truck smashed into the family's home, leaving a massive hole. He says the driver who did this was reckless.
"I don't know what is up with the guy, maybe he was drinking, maybe drinking," he said.
His 27-year-old son has fractures to his skull and neck, and has bleeding in his brain. His bed ended up on top of the pickup truck after it came into his bedroom where he was sleeping. Luis crawled out on his own.
Patino's older brother says the family is very concerned about his injuries.
"The damage was done to him in his head; I'm guessing he hit the ceiling. He was probably tossed from his bed up towards where the ceiling is at because the fan is broken," said Luis's brother Daunsllons Patino.
When his family saw him in the hospital, he did not know where he was or what day it was. But they have seen encouraging signs.
"I told him we are all there for him and he was strong and that he'd come out of it," said another brother Jairo Patino. "I asked him, 'How many fingers I was holding and I held up two' and he responded, 'two.'"
The family says drivers speed along this stretch of the 610 feeder all the time, and that more needs to be done to stop them because this time, it could have cost their brother his life.
"This is nothing. This is material. We just want my brother to be alright. This can be fixed," said Daunsllons.
The truck driver is identified by authorities as David Smith. Smith was also seriously hurt. He had to be cut out of the truck. Paramedics arrived and took the driver to LBJ Hospital. There is still no word on what charges the driver could face.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Crews in downtown Houston were cleaning up Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed into a building
It happened around 2:30am at the Houston Pavilions on San Jacinto near Polk.
Police say the driver of a sports utility vehicle was T-boned on the driver's side by a small car.
The impact caused the SUV to veer off the road and crash into the building.
No one was hurt and it's not clear who was at fault for the crash. Both drivers claim they had a green light.

Three people were inside the SUV when the driver somehow lost control and went through the parking lot of Divino restaurant and then barreled through a fence and crashed into the side of the building.
One person in the SUV died in the accident. At least two others were pinned inside the vehicle for a while. They were taken to the hospital with injuries.
Neighbors tell us the building that was hit is part business and part residence. A woman who lives there was seen walking around after the accident, apparently unhurt.
The victim hasn't been identified. The accident is under investigation.

According to officials, a sports utility vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a tree in the median.

The van slammed into a wooden electrical poll on the passenger side, splitting the pole in two. The top part was just hanging by the wires.
The driver of the minivan hurt his leg, but officials said he refused to be transported.
The driver of the Town Car was not injured.
CenterPoint replaced the pole Sunday morning.
