Driver dead after losing control on SE Houston street

  Police say the man ran off the road, crashed into a fence and then crossed the median and hit a parked vehicle before coming to rest

It happened around 4:30am on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Bungalow Lane.

Police said the man was southbound on MLK when he lost control of his pickup truck.

The driver veered to the right and went over a curb and a sidewalk before he hit a fence, police said.

According to investigators, he got back on MLK southbound but then crossed the median and drove into the northbound lanes.

The driver ended up crashing into a Hummer parked in a driveway. He was dead when officers arrived.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The man's identity has not been released.

Driver slams into street signs, flees from scene

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man crashed into street signs on the Southwest Freeway feeder road and then took off on foot.

It happened near Kirby just before 1am. Police say the driver somehow lost control and hit a red light pole, knocked over two street signs, then rolled to a stop at the U-turn underneath the freeway.

Another driver crashed into one of those signs spewed across the feeder road a short time later, disabling his car.

All of the debris has since been cleared.

Baby delivered after mom killed crossing the street dies in hospital

Investigators say 30-year old Rice University teacher Jennifer Young was crossing the street at Main and Cambridge Tuesday morning when she was hit by a car. She died at a hospital and doctors were forced to deliver her unborn child.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The baby delivered by doctors after its mother was fatally struck crossing the street earlier this week has died in the hospital.

Doctors at Memorial Hermann Hospital performed emergency surgery to deliver the unborn child on Tuesday. The baby had been in critical condition at the hospital since then, but died Thursday.

Police say the mother, 30-year-old Jennifer Young, was trying to cross the street at the intersection of Main and Cambridge at about 9:20am Tuesday when a vehicle hit her.

The driver of the vehicle was questioned and released at the scene. The investigation continues.

Young was a teacher at Rice University. According to university officials, she taught computational and applied mathematics. She had been working at the university of two years.

Pregnant woman killed crossing street, doctors deliver baby

Investigators say 30-year old Rice University teacher Jennifer Young was crossing the street at Main and Cambridge Tuesday morning when she was hit by a car. She died at a hospital and doctors were forced to deliver her unborn child.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A pregnant woman was killed while crossing a street, but doctors may have been able to save her unborn baby.

The accident happened at about 9:20am Tuesday in the 6300 block of Main. Police say the woman, who's been identified as 30-year-old Jennifer Young, was trying to cross the street at the intersection of Main and Cambridge.

As Young crossed the street, a gray Acura MDX, traveling south on Main, had the green light. A vehicle next to the Acura stopped in the middle of the intersection and the Acura continued forward, hitting the victim.

Young was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where her unborn child was delivered by emergency surgery. The baby remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Acura was questioned and released at the scene. The investigation continues. The woman's identity has not been released.

Young was a teacher at Rice University. According to university officials, she taught computational and applied mathematics. She had been working at the university of two years.

Man found shot in north Houston street

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A gun was found next to a shooting victim in the middle of the street in north Houston.

The 21-year-old man was found outside an apartment complex on Greens near Greenchase late last night. Police are trying to determine if that gun belonged to the victim and whether it was fired.

Witnesses saw a car speeding away, but police have not identified a suspect yet.

Man shot to death on his street in League City

  LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was found dead on his street in League City.

It happened around 2:15am Sunday in the 1900 block of Acacia St. at Empress.

The League City Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about a man down in the street and possible shots fired.

When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man lying in the middle of the road behind what appeared to be his pickup truck.

The vehicle was still running, officials said. The man had multiple gunshot wounds and was already dead.

There were no known witnesses to the crime, but a couple of neighbors heard gunshots.

According to investigators, the victim lives on that street.

Two people of interest -- one of them a friend of the victim -- were taken into custody for interviews, but no charges have been filed.

The victim's name has not been released, and police are working to establish a motive for the killing.

Small plane lands on League City street

  LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- A single-engine plane made an emergency landing on a residential street in League City this morning.

The plane experienced and engine failure during flight around 7am, according to officials. The pilot, Clark Thompson, was able to safely land the plane on Signature Cove, which also called Davis Road. The street where the plane landed is in a newly developed subdivision where homes have not yet been built.

The pilot was the only one on board. He wasn't injured.

The FAA and DPS are investigating the incident.
