Prominent attorney's lover, estate settle

AP  HOUSTON -- A prominent Houston attorney's estate has avoided a courtroom fight with the late attorney's longtime lover over his will.

The Houston Chronicle reports terms aren't being disclosed of the settlement announced Wednesday between Darla Lexington and trustees of John O'Quinn's estate.

Lexington had been a beneficiary of O'Quinn's life insurance policy but was not provided for in his will, which left O'Quinn's estate to his foundation.

Lexington contended that she was O'Quinn's common-law wife and therefore entitled to a bequest.

Her attorney, Jimmy Williamson, said Lexington is satisfied with the deal.
