Man awaiting trial faces new charge of endangering child

According to court documents, on January 16 Matthew James Wolski tried to walk out of a Walmart on Fry in west Houston with a shopping cart full of items and made no attempt to pay for them. His 3-year-old child was sitting in the cart as well. Three loss prevention officers confronted Wolski when he then allegedly pushed away the officers, grabbed his child and ran.

Wolski, 22, threw his child into the backseat of his vehicle without properly restraining the child and sped away at a high rate of speed, court documents state.

The case Wolski is awaiting trial for happened in July 2011 when police responded to a report of a man, later identified as Wolski, stalking a woman in her car in the parking lot of a Walmart on Kuykendahl. When deputies arrived and approached Wolski, they say he tried to run over one of them with his car. Deputies fired shots at his car, but he got away.

He eventually crashed into some construction barrels, then ran into the woods and led deputies on a chase. Deputies later found him wounded and dehydrated in the bed of a dump truck.

Since that incident, court records show Wolski was charged with credit card abuse in August 2011. He also was charged with theft for allegedly stealing a cell phone from a person on January 8, 2012. His criminal record goes back further including convictions for indecent exposure, receiving stolen property and drug possession.
