HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man accused of shooting and killing his own mother appeared in court on Tuesday. Reyna 'Yuki' Rogers was a well-known activist in the Asian community here in Houston. Her son, James Rogers, is charged with murdering her last week inside their southwest Houston townhome. Yuki Rogers was shot at least eight times.
In court Tuesday, James Rogers, 26, asked for a court-appointed attorney.
There's still been no mention of a motive. James Rogers is a former military man.
