Weapons stolen during home invasion in NW Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A homeowner in northwest Harris County fell victim to armed burglars Friday morning.

According to the constable's office, the crime rate in the Ponderosa subdivision is not high. There were no recorded burglaries last month, according to the chief deputy constable there, and only two in November. But none of that matters to the man who was targeted on Friday morning. He talked to Eyewitness News, but he doesn't want to be identified.

"I look over just in time to see all of them get out with their guns in their hands, and they're pointing them right at me," he said. "They said, 'Get in the house.'"

Four men wearing masks, and one of the guns was pointed at the family dog.

The victim recalled, "I said, "Please don't shoot that dog. That dog is not aggressive. She's a great dog.' And he said, 'Well, then put her in the back yard.'"

That's when the victim says the ransacking operation began. Electronics and what little jewelry he had were all taken. And there were the guns. The robbers got away with about half a dozen. A locked gun case with shotguns still inside was discarded as the men jumped in a waiting car.

"It wasn't fun watching it," the victim told Eyewitness News. "One guy had a constant gun on me the whole time. I was pretty much focused on him, looking down the barrel of his gun. He kept screaming, 'I'm going to shoot you. I'm going to shoot you.'"

The house has been hit before. The last time, this contractor says his tools were stolen. But this is different. It's personal and he doesn't want it to happen again, and he says he wants to move, but he doesn't know where.

Four male suspects were described only as being somewhat young, last seen making their getaway in a white compact sedan. Anyone with information on who they may be is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Suspect shot by DPS trooper during chase

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcyclist eluded state troopers for more than 20 minutes before being shot in the leg this morning.

The chase started in Chambers County and ended near South Post Oak and Brookston in southwest Houston.

Troopers say they tried to pull over the motorcyclist for traffic violations, but he refused to stop.

The motorcyclist allegedly reached speeds over 100mph and went more than 30 miles with troopers in pursuit.

One trooper had to drop out of the chase because he was running out of gas. Another trooper took over and eventually opened fire.

The motorcyclist was hit in the leg.

He said he ran because he was driving on a suspended license and did not want to go to jail.

Texas Rangers are investigating the case.

Deputy shoots Channelview man during disturbance

  Crystal KobzaCHANNELVIEW, TX (KTRK) -- A deputy-involved shooting is under investigation in northeast Harris County after a man was shot in the chest.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office tells us the Precinct 3 deputy constable was responding to a domestic disturbance call off Sheffield Terrace at Pennygent near Channelview just after 10pm when he discharged his weapon, hitting the suspect.

"It's just shocking to see the officer just shoot the man in the middle of the street," witness Keri Agee said. "The cop pulled out his gun and shot him. I watched him shoot him right in the middle of the street."

Agee says she was in her front yard hanging Christmas decorations when she saw the Precinct 3 deputy arrive at her neighbor's home.

"I looked back and saw the officer fire two shots, and I went and called 911," she said.

Agee tells us the suspect and the deputy were yelling at one another prior to the shooting and the suspect had started taking off his clothes in the middle of the street.

Seconds later -- in the midst of ordering the suspect to the ground -- the deputy fired the shots.

HCSO officials are investigating what exactly led up to the shooting.

"I honestly think he was trying to show the cop he didn't have anything on him," Agee said. "And he said, 'I don't have anything, you don't have any papers on me, you don't have anything on me, leave my house.'"

Shirley Pruett, who also lives nearby, says she also heard the commotion and was terrified after hearing gunfire.

"What I heard very loud and clear was somebody repeat, 'Shoot, shoot, shoot,'" Pruett said. "And then I heard pow, pow, pow."

The deputy involved was not injured. Authorities tell us he has been with the department for four years.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

DA: Paramedic in possession of child porn was found in bed with a boy during a search warrant

Chaise Michael Green, 28, is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A local firefighter and paramedic is accused of possessing images and videos of child porn.

On September 26, the Harris County Pct. 4 Constables Office say they executed a search warrant at a Spring area residence in reference to an investigation involving the alleged possession and possible distribution of child pornography.

During the search of the residence, investigators say a male identified as Chaise Michael Green was found in bed with a prepubescent male child.

Investigators say they discovered multiple images and videos of child pornography on Green's personal laptop computer and storage device.

Court documents state Green had recently worked as a fireman and was employed as an Emergency Medical Technician with a local ambulance company.

Green, 28, is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography. Bond has been set at $60,000 total.

Authorities say they are interviewing the boy found in bed with Green and further charges may be filed against Green.

One person shot during fight outside NE Harris Co. home

At least one person was shot after some sort of fight broke outside a NE Harris Co. home.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A fight early this morning in northeast Harris County ended with one person shot.

Investigators say there was some type of argument outside a home on Charriton near JFK. That's when someone pulled out a gun and started shooting.

One person was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. Deputies made one arrest.

Man shot to death during altercation in Baytown

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are looking into a deadly shooting last night in the Baytown area.

It happened at a home on Oak Street near West Main. Officers say the two men were at a home there and got into some sort of fight.

The gunman shot and killed the victim and then took off. There was a witness but it's unknown if he knew the shooter.

Police are still looking for him.

Body found during search for missing woman

CHANNELVIEW, TX (KTRK) -- A search effort in the Channelview area has ended after the body of a woman's was found right under the missing woman's trailer home. Rosemarie Hutcheson hasn't been seen since Friday night. Now authorities are working to confirm whether the body found Tuesday is in fact her.

Two volunteers with Texas Equuseach found the body of a woman underneath the trailer where Rosemarie lived with her husband and her daughter. The 52-year-old went missing around 6:30pm Friday. A family friend told Eyewitness News she had gone to a shed in the yard, and her husband had gone around to the other side of the house. By the time he reached the shed, Rosemarie was gone.

Texas Equusearch has been looking for her for the past two days, mainly in the densely wooded area behind the trailer park. On Tuesday afternoon they began retracing their steps, focusing on the back side of the trailer.

"One of the things that we noticed is that if you look at the skirting on the trailer, how straight it is and everything," said Tim Miller with Equusearch. "That one corner, you could tell the skirting wasn't like the rest of the skirting. That was another indication that for one reason or another, the skirting didn't look the same."

The searchers who found the body said it appeared it had been there for a few days. Investigators did not find any signs of foul play and suspect it might be a case of suicide.

Earlier, the Harris County Sheriff's Office told us Rosemarie had been suffering from depression.

Authorities have taken a DNA swab from Rosemarie's husband.

The identity of the body has not yet been confirmed.

Man faces charges after allegedly secretly recording woman during sex

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman says she was videotaped having sex with a man in motel rooms without her knowledge, but that wasn't the end of the incident.

The woman told police that on July 27 she went to a bar with a friend and met Le Q. Hung, and then had sex with him at a motel. According to court documents, Hung allegedly recorded the encounter without the victim's consent.

The woman told police that Hung has been using the video to coerce her into continuing a sexual relationship with him for the past two months, under the pretext that he would distribute copies of the video to her husband and co-workers if she refused.

The woman says she tried to break things off with Hung, but he reportedly showed up at her workplace, followed her home and allegedly threatened to assault her husband if she refuses to see him.

The victim said that on one occasion she went to Hung's home in an effort to retrieve all the videos Hung allegedly had of them having sex in motels, and he demanded sex from her. When she refused, she says he pulled a gun on her and threatened to kill her, her child and husband and then shoot himself if she didn't have sex with him.

Court documents state that after the incident the woman pretended everything was alright and she managed to recover some videos and call the police to make a report.

Hung, 41, is charged with improper photography/visual recording and aggravated assault of a family member.

League City council to approve texting ban during meetings

  LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- The League City council is about to approve a texting ban for its own meetings.

The city's ethics review board recommended a rule against electronic communication in session. The board wants to make sure all discussions are documented and open to the public.

The new rule would ban deliberations on cell phones, laptops, or other electronic devices. A final vote will be held tomorrow.

HPD: Naked suspect shot by homeowner during attempted burglary

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A homeowner fought back against a suspected burglar who was reportedly naked.

Police say the naked man was behind the wheel of a vehicle when he forced his way through the gate on the homeowner's property at around 8am Monday on Tierwester Street near Lehall on Houston's south side.. The homeowner emptied one gun into the suspect's vehicle and when the suspect didn't stop, he began firing another gun at the vehicle.

The homeowner, Anthony Allen, says the suspect used his vehicle to push the sliding gate open. That's when the homeowner's mother saw the suspect driving around to her son's back door. She called her son and woke him up. When Allen came outside, he saw the gate was closed and the suspect driving forward then backward in his driveway. That's when Allen says he yelled for the suspect to stop, but he continued to drive and opened his car door.

Allen says with the suspect close, he fired his handgun into the vehicle, and when that didn't stop him, he fired his shotgun.

"All of that noise was for warning, that if you got out of your car, you wouldn't make it. But they never did," Allen said. "I have better aim than I used today, I mean, than I gave him. It wasn't that I wanted to harm him, I just didn't want him to get out of the car and think he was gonna walk in."

Just after the shooting, police arrived and ordered the suspect out of the car.

"After numerous attempts to get him out, he got out himself. He was naked," Houston Police Department Sgt. Sean Rios said.

"He was as naked as he could be. He didn't even have clothes in the car," Allen said.

Police were still forced to subdue the wounded suspect with a Taser.

Allen says it's not the way he wanted to spend his Labor Day but he and his mother say it could have been worse.

"You know you don't know and that just the bad part about it. You just don't know what people are thinking," he said.

The suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The homeowner was not hurt during the shooting.

Police investigating fatal escalator fall during Texans game at Reliant Stadium

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Texans fan died after falling from a stadium escalator. Witnesses say the man was trying to slide down the handrail and may have been dared to do it by a friend.

We are waiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death of Jonathan Kelly, 25, who fell from an escalator at Reliant Stadium. It happened during the third quarter as some fans were leaving the Texans' final pre-season game.

Reliant park staff members say they are taking a hard look at safety procedures after that deadly fall that took place on the northeast side of the stadium.

The escalators just beyond the Coca-Cola gate at Reliant Stadium aren't moving. They've been shut down after a man fell to his death during Thursday's pre-season game between the Texans and Minnesota Vikings.

Eyewitness Veronica Mares recalled, "We're watching the body go down, and he lands and we're like OK, he's not moving. He's dead you know?"

Mares says she and her family were on the escalator during the third quarter when they witnessed Kelly's 60-foot fall. Mares says she saw the 25-year-old Houston man and two of his friends holding drinks and playing around, riding the escalator's handrails.

"He rode the rail for like two or three seconds and after that you just see him falling," she said. "He couldn't grab anything. I mean, there was nothing he could have grabbed."

We took an up close look at the area where the accident happened. There are no stairs nor walls that could have cushioned that deadly drop from the fifth level to the ground.

"They were horseplaying when they shouldn't have been," Mares said.

During a news conference Friday morning, administrators for both Reliant Park and the Texans expressed their sympathies for Kelly's family.

Houston Texans President Jamey Roots said, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this young man."

For now, administrators are staying rather tight-lipped about certain details in the investigation while making sure safety inspectors take a look at these escalators. We did ask whether alcohol was a factor in that fall. Reliant Park's manager mentioned that could be a factor in the investigation. The medical examiner's autopsy results have not been completed.

Three killed, two others injured during shooting outside night club

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people are dead and two more injured after a shooting early Wednesday morning. Hundreds had gathered outside the Scores Cabaret in southwest Houston after a Juneteenth rap concert, and that's when someone opened fire.

That shooting happened right in the parking lot just a few steps away from the door. Police say the chaos had hundreds of people running for cover.

Outside Club Blue on Westpark, balloons are now a reminder of the five people who were shot in the parking lot early Wednesday morning.

Two women say their uncle, who's popularly known as "Dinky," is among the three victims who died.

Quitta said, "Just sad, and heartache and pain."

Police say the shooting happened shortly after a concert featuring Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth wrapped up. That concert was billed as part of a Juneteenth celebration at a strip club next door. Witnesses say the suspects fired between 20 and 40 rounds.

Ashley, a friend of one of the victims, said, "It was just heartbreaking, you know. I couldn't believe it."

Ashley, who didn't want to show her face or give her last name, told me her best friend Erica Dodson was also killed outside the club. Police say the single mother of three was an innocent victim who was just walking to her car.

"She was like an everyday person, I seen her every day," Ashley said. Just to hear the fact that, you know, that she's gone, it's really, really heartbroken."

Investigators say it's possible the Westpark shooting is gang-related. They say it could be connected to a domestic issue involving one of the male victims who received death threats recently. Now Ashley is asking why.

"Just by her walking from the store, going to the car, she's hit. She's dead," she said.

Trae Tha Truth's publicist tells Eyewitness News the musician suffered minor injuries from a bullet wound to the shoulder. A photo of Trae in his hospital gown was tweeted just before he was discharged from the hospital. Police are also calling him an innocent victim.

Police have not officially released the names of the victims. The big problem right now is that they say they need the community's help with leads on the suspects. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Shots fired during robbery at NW Harris County game room

Shots rang out overnight at a northwest Harris County game room.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Deputies are investigating an overnight robbery and shooting at a game room in northwest Harris County.

Authorities were called around 1:20am to Jack's Place on Veterans Memorial near Fallbrook. They found an employee with a gunshot wound in the foot.

Witnesses say a group of up to five men entered the business, demanded money and fired their weapons. Several customers were inside. They were robbed as well.

A pending investigation will look into the business itself.

"Our vice division is handling whether it's illegal or a legal operation," said Sgt. David Hillborn with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The employee's injuries are considered non-life threatening. The suspects remain on the run.

Shots fired during police chase through three counties

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A high-speed chase through three counties came to a violent end Monday afternoon in Polk County.

At around 2:30pm Monday, Montgomery County deputy constables say Humble police spotted a driver speeding in the New Caney area. A MCSO deputy constable tried to make a traffic stop, but the suspect fled and authorities gave chase. Deputies say speeds reached 140 miles per hour during the chase.

Law enforcement realized it was a stolen vehicle out of Sugar Land.

DPS says they laid down a spike strip which slowed the suspect's vehicle down, but he kept going and rammed some deputies off the road. The suspect was attempting to ram a Liberty Co. sheriff's vehicle when the captain fired his weapon at the suspect's vehicle, which then stopped.

From SkyEye 13 HD, a large bullet hole could be seen in the driver's side window of the stolen vehicle. The suspect was not hit, but was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The suspect was taken into custody near Highway 59 at 190, near the Livingston area.

He is facing charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as felony evading arrest.

Clerk fatally shot during robbery at Family Dollar

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There was a deadly shooting last night at a southeast Houston Family Dollar Store.

It happened at the store on Bellfort near Westover. According to investigators, two men waited until the store was about to close and ran inside wearing masks. Once inside, they reportedly held up a female clerk at gunpoint.

Investigators say during the robbery, the two men shot and killed that clerk. A male employee who was also inside at the time wasn't hurt.

"The cash register was in the open position," said Officer Javier Avila with the Houston Police Department. "How much money was taken or if any money was taken, we won't know until they conduct some type of inventory."

Investigators say the two masked men took off in a customer's car. They say the vehicle the men drove off in is a tan 2012 Toyota Camry with Louisiana license plates N23-8302.

Police are searching for those suspects right now. If you have any information on where they might be, you're asked to call police.

Triathlete loses more than 200 pounds during training for Ironman

THE WOODLANDS, TX (KTRK) -- This weekend, hundreds of athletes will be pushing themselves to the limit, competing in the Ironman in The Woodlands. One of the competitors is trying it out after losing more than half his weight.

If you saw Eric Yollick running past you on the street you might not notice him. But there's something special in each stride, each thump of his soles against the pavement.

"I am going to be in my first Ironman triathlon," he said.

Eric has been training for a year.

He admitted, "Yeah, I am a little nervous, I have to admit."

He's been running, biking, and swimming to get ready for an epic day of competition that he undersells.

"I think that I have a pretty good chance of finishing," Eric predicted. "Other than that, it's just a day of exercise."

But that is where Eric's story begins -- there is much more to him. In fact, there used to be a lot more to him.

He said, "As of this morning, I've lost 230 pounds since July 1, 2010."

Two years ago Eric weighed 406 pounds.

"I really just decided that it was really time for me to start taking care of myself," Eric said.

So here he is, less than half the man he was, about to run a marathon after biking 112 miles and swimming 2.4 miles.

Eric said, "It has really made a huge difference in my life. Every moment of my life is different than when I weighed more than 400 pounds."

His story is inspiring enough if it ended there. But with Eric, there's more.

In 2003 his son was diagnosed with leukemia and is still fighting it. And two years ago, his wife was told she had uterine cancer, but is now in remission. So those steps and those strokes and the spin of the wheel are for them.

Eric explained, "We really have a serious chance at this point in human history to defeat cancer once and for all."

Six months ago Eric started the Team Yollick Foundation to end cancer. The goal is a million dollars.

"It's a reality to see it end in our lifetime," said Geoff Litke, Team Yollick Executive Director.

Litke says they've raised nearly $25,000 so far. He says as Eric runs his hope is to help the researchers who discovered the drug that's saving his son, as well as those who detected his wife's cancer early enough to save her, and to create prevention and counseling centers in Houston.

"We want to put money to the people who are doing something to end cancer," Eric said.

Team Yollick believes they can help end cancer. And if Eric can lose more than half of his weight...

"Actually even my wife said to me about a week ago that she can't remember the way I used to look," he said.

And he can finish a triathlon, who's to tell them they can't beat a disease.

"If someone puts their mind to it, someone can accomplish pretty much anything they want to accomplish," said Eric.

Armed man shot by officer during confrontation

  Pooja LodhiaHOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people ended up in this hospital overnight after two different shootings in northeast Houston.

The first shooting happened at a home around on Homewood near Tremont at around 11:30pm. Police say a woman was shot in the back of the head and her 13-year-old daughter shot in the mouth. Both are expected to survive.

The 31-year-old woman told police her boyfriend shot them and gave them a description of him.

Officers spotted the boyfriend walking down Wayside carrying a semi-automatic a short time later. Authorities say he refused to drop the gun. One of the officers opened fire after the suspect pointed the gun at him.

"When the officer initially pulled up in his vehicle that suspect pointed a weapon rights directly at the officer and fled from the officer on foot," said John Cannon with the Houston Police Department. "That officer got into a foot pursuit with the suspect who, after refusing all verbal commands to drop the weapon, turned toward the officer and pointed the weapon at him and that's when the officer discharged his weapon several times."

The suspect was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

The officer involved in the shooting was not injured. He has been with the Houston Police department for four years.

Deputies: Shots fired during suspect chase in north Harris County

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people are in custody and the search is on for two others after a reported chase and shootout in north Harris County this afternoon.

Harris Co. Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hickman says a group of suspects robbed a Sprint cell phone store at I-45 and Cypresswood in the Spring area. Hickman says the suspects were armed and told the manager to put phones into a plastic bag, then forced the manager into the back of the store.

The suspects fled and the manager set off the panic alarm in the store, jumped into his vehicle and called 911 while following the suspects, according to Hickman.

The suspects spotted the manager following them and fired shots into his vehicle. He was not injured.

Precinct 4 deputy constables and Harris Co. Sheriff's deputies then located and pursued the suspects' vehicle, which eventually crashed into a pole near I-45 and Rankin.

Authorities say they apprehended three of the suspects, but the search continues for the other two.

Man shot during robbery in NW Harris County

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Robbery appears to be the motive for a shooting overnight in northwest Harris County.

A man was shot at the North Bend apartment complex on Cornerstone Village near Walters. Deputies say he was walking with his wife from their car when two gunmen approached them.
