HCSO: Security guard shoots 4 outside night club

Crystal KobzaHOUSTON (KTRK) -- One man was killed and three others were wounded when deputies say a security guard opened fire outside an after-hours club early Sunday.

It happened around 6am at the Bronco Nite Club on Veterans Memorial near West Road in northwest Harris County.

Dozens of club patrons witnessed the shooting.

"The guy died in the parking lot because the security guard shot him," witness Brenda Romero said. "He shot him because he was drunk and he got into a confrontation with the security guard. The security guard came back and shot; that's it."

Witnesses said multiple shots were fired.

"I almost got shot," witness Lina Deleon said. "I had to run to the back."

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the security guard was in the process of escorting several people out of the club at closing time when a fight started.

Detectives said the guard shot all four victims when they all assaulted him at once. One man died at the scene. Three others were taken to area hospitals. Officials said one had serious injuries and the other two were minor.

"The security guard: he has been assaulted; he has physical injuries, trauma injuries, not a gunshot wound," HCSO Sgt. Ben Beall said.

Romero told us she comes to the club often but has never witnessed things get this out of control. She said the deceased victim -- a man who appeared to be in his 20s -- was shot in the chest.

She tried to help him, but he died in her arms.

"I really don't know him," Romero said. "I was just trying to tell him to stay up with me to help him out."

Investigators spent the morning questioning club patrons. They are now looking into whether the club was able to sell alcohol.

According to investigators, the area is no stranger to problems. Officials say they have received 12 calls for service in the last two months at the strip center where Bronco is located. The owner of the club reportedly locked up the bar and left the scene after the shooting happened.

Detectives said they will complete their investigation at the scene and send evidence and witness statements to the district attorney's office, where it will be decided whether the security guard will be charged.

3 killed, 3 injured in night club shooting

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police were searching Sunday for a gunman who fatally shot three people and injured three others outside a northeast Houston night club.

It happened around 2am at Club I.C.U. in the 9500 block of Mesa Drive near Rinn.

Police said two groups were at the bar, both celebrating birthdays, when a fight broke out between two women.

The fight spilled outside to the parking lot and grew in size. Suddenly, police said an unidentified man who had been inside the club pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the crowd.

"I come outside they started fighting," club owner Tommy Wyatt said. "We thought we had broke it up. The next thing I heard a gun fire."

Dozens of people ducked for cover but at least six were shot -- three men and three women.

Yvette McNeal was standing near the shooter when she saw the gun.

"A guy just got trigger happy," she said. "He wanted to shoot, play Rambo and started shooting."

According to police, 38-year-old Gilbert Kibble and 22-year-old Curtis Steward died at the scene.

Felipe Castillo, 26, was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died.

The three women were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds, but investigators said their injuries were not life-threatening.

According to officials, at least two of the victims were intentionally gunned down, and the others may have been hit by stray bullets.

All six victims were said by their families to be related. Now, their loved ones are preparing to plan funerals.

The killer remains on the loose. He is described only as a black male. Anyone with information that could help police solve this crime can call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Three killed, two others injured during shooting outside night club

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people are dead and two more injured after a shooting early Wednesday morning. Hundreds had gathered outside the Scores Cabaret in southwest Houston after a Juneteenth rap concert, and that's when someone opened fire.

That shooting happened right in the parking lot just a few steps away from the door. Police say the chaos had hundreds of people running for cover.

Outside Club Blue on Westpark, balloons are now a reminder of the five people who were shot in the parking lot early Wednesday morning.

Two women say their uncle, who's popularly known as "Dinky," is among the three victims who died.

Quitta said, "Just sad, and heartache and pain."

Police say the shooting happened shortly after a concert featuring Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth wrapped up. That concert was billed as part of a Juneteenth celebration at a strip club next door. Witnesses say the suspects fired between 20 and 40 rounds.

Ashley, a friend of one of the victims, said, "It was just heartbreaking, you know. I couldn't believe it."

Ashley, who didn't want to show her face or give her last name, told me her best friend Erica Dodson was also killed outside the club. Police say the single mother of three was an innocent victim who was just walking to her car.

"She was like an everyday person, I seen her every day," Ashley said. Just to hear the fact that, you know, that she's gone, it's really, really heartbroken."

Investigators say it's possible the Westpark shooting is gang-related. They say it could be connected to a domestic issue involving one of the male victims who received death threats recently. Now Ashley is asking why.

"Just by her walking from the store, going to the car, she's hit. She's dead," she said.

Trae Tha Truth's publicist tells Eyewitness News the musician suffered minor injuries from a bullet wound to the shoulder. A photo of Trae in his hospital gown was tweeted just before he was discharged from the hospital. Police are also calling him an innocent victim.

Police have not officially released the names of the victims. The big problem right now is that they say they need the community's help with leads on the suspects. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Gunfire erupts outside Galleria-area night club

See it on TV? Check here. HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An off-duty Houston police officer and an armed suspect shot at each other outside a Galleria-area night club early this morning. The armed confrontation happened outside the Roxy on West Alabama and South Rice.

Around 2am as the club was closing, police say uniformed officer Sgt. N. Maurer, who was working security, noticed a disturbance in the parking lot. He then saw a man shooting a gun in the air.

Police say the 19-year police veteran identified himself to the 30-year-old suspect and gave commands. That's when the suspect allegedly pointed his gun at Sgt. Maurer.

Police say Sgt. Maurer fired at least one shot before the suspect took off running from the parking lot, throwing his weapon to the ground. Investigators say the suspect then returned to the parking lot a short time later.

"A nearby witness who sees what's going on assists the officer. He ends up knocking down the suspect and the suspect, at that point, continues to resist," said HPD Spokesperson Victor Senties. "Sergeant comes over, tries to take him into custody. He continues to resist. Sergeant deploys his CED, or his Taser, and the suspect is taken into custody without further incident."

Neither the officer nor the suspect was injured. The suspect will likely face aggravated assault charges for reportedly pointing the gun at the officer.
