Four firefighters, two others injured in collision involving fire truck in east Harris Co.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Six people were injured in a collision that involved a fire truck in east Harris County Friday night.

It happened at the intersection of Hollywood and Brown Wood Street.

According to officials with the Cloverleaf Volunteer Fire Department, four firefighters were their way to run a few errands. They were less than a block from the fire station when officials say the driver of a black Dodge pickup slammed into the side of the fire truck, flipping the emergency vehicle over.

According to witnesses, the pickup truck driver ran a stop sign.

"The truck and come hit the fire department truck, and dumped over" witness Rene Vences said.

"It's horrible. I just --- my brother. They said he's OK," said Elizabeth Beaver, whose brother was among the firefighters involved in the wreck.

Officials had to extricate two people out of the pickup. They were both taken to Ben Taub with serious injuries.

Four firefighters also were transported to be treated for minor injuries.

Three killed, two others injured during shooting outside night club

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Three people are dead and two more injured after a shooting early Wednesday morning. Hundreds had gathered outside the Scores Cabaret in southwest Houston after a Juneteenth rap concert, and that's when someone opened fire.

That shooting happened right in the parking lot just a few steps away from the door. Police say the chaos had hundreds of people running for cover.

Outside Club Blue on Westpark, balloons are now a reminder of the five people who were shot in the parking lot early Wednesday morning.

Two women say their uncle, who's popularly known as "Dinky," is among the three victims who died.

Quitta said, "Just sad, and heartache and pain."

Police say the shooting happened shortly after a concert featuring Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth wrapped up. That concert was billed as part of a Juneteenth celebration at a strip club next door. Witnesses say the suspects fired between 20 and 40 rounds.

Ashley, a friend of one of the victims, said, "It was just heartbreaking, you know. I couldn't believe it."

Ashley, who didn't want to show her face or give her last name, told me her best friend Erica Dodson was also killed outside the club. Police say the single mother of three was an innocent victim who was just walking to her car.

"She was like an everyday person, I seen her every day," Ashley said. Just to hear the fact that, you know, that she's gone, it's really, really heartbroken."

Investigators say it's possible the Westpark shooting is gang-related. They say it could be connected to a domestic issue involving one of the male victims who received death threats recently. Now Ashley is asking why.

"Just by her walking from the store, going to the car, she's hit. She's dead," she said.

Trae Tha Truth's publicist tells Eyewitness News the musician suffered minor injuries from a bullet wound to the shoulder. A photo of Trae in his hospital gown was tweeted just before he was discharged from the hospital. Police are also calling him an innocent victim.

Police have not officially released the names of the victims. The big problem right now is that they say they need the community's help with leads on the suspects. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Houston parade April 7 for Iraq war vets, others

AP  HOUSTON -- A military support group says Houston will host a welcome home parade next month for Iraq war veterans.

Gene Tulich with the nonprofit Houston Military Affairs Committee said Tuesday that the parade will be held Saturday, April 7. He told the Houston Chronicle that veterans of earlier wars are also invited to participate.

A similar parade was held Jan. 28 in St. Louis. Organizers say that parade drew about 100,000 observers and 20,000 participants, including Iraq War and other post-Sept. 11 vets.

A spokeswoman for Houston Mayor Annise Parker says the parade is still in the planning stages and details will not be announced until later this month.

Teen killed, 2 others injured during police chase

BRAZORIA COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A 14-year-old boy is dead after crashing a stolen truck in Brazoria County. The teen was trying to get away from a state trooper, when he lost control of the vehicle Monday night on County Road 39 at FM 1462.

Two other young boys, ages 12 and 13, were injured in that crash. All of the boys were students at Queens Intermediate School in Pasadena -- one in sixth grade and the other two in seventh grade.

Eziquiel Serna, 14, was ejected from the truck and did not survive the crash. Investigators say he was behind the wheel of a stolen Comcast truck when he was clocked going 72mph in a 60mph zone on FM 521. A trooper pulled the truck over, but when he got out of his patrol unit investigators say Serna took off.

The teen led the trooper on a chase that lasted 10 minutes, until Serna lost control on a dirt road, flipping the truck several times.

"The truck was traveling down this dirt road, lost control and flipped multiple times," said Trooper John Sampa with the Texas Department of Public Safety. "The crash ejected the driver and the other two passengers were not ejected."

His two friends and passengers, ages 12 and 13, survived. They were treated and released from the hospital.

According to investigators, the surviving passengers admitted to tossing marijuana and hash out of the window of the moving truck. Drug and theft charges against them are pending.

Counselors are on hand at Queens Intermediate to help students cope with the death of Serna.
