Man charged in wife's shooting death last month reportedly killed himself Thursday

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man charged in the shooting death of his wife last month reportedly killed himself on Thursday.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says shortly before 10am Thursday they were contacted by security reporting that Thomas A. Quinlan came into the April Sound Subdivision going to his home on North April Waters. Security officers knew of the emergency protective order in place against Quinlan prohibiting him from being at the house.

Quinlan was arrested on December 30, 2012, for the shooting death of his wife, Donna Quinlan.

Deputies say when they arrived Thursday, they learned that no one was in the home other than Quinlan and they could not make contact with him. SWAT deputies entered the home and say they found Quinlan dead of what is believed to be a self-inflicted wound.

Quinlan was released from the Montgomery County Jail on January 3 after posting the $500,000 bond set at the time of his arrest last month.

Deputies say the investigation continues.

Friendswood woman charged with deadly conduct after alleged drunken rampage

  FRIENDSWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- A Friendswood woman is accused of deadly conduct after allegedly trying to run over her husband with a vehicle.

It happened just before 3pm Thursday in the 1100 block of Eagle Lakes Drive.

Michelle Lee O'Donnell, 40, is charged with deadly conduct-family violence.

According to police, O'Donnell drove over a curb and into her yard that afternoon. She then drove directly toward her husband as he was standing behind his truck in the driveway, placing him in danger of serious bodily injury, officials said.

She reportedly slammed into the back of his truck, but he was able to get out of the way. We're told she also got her vehicle stuck in the grass and then backed out into the street before she drove away. She was allegedly intoxicated at the time, officials said.

When officers arrived, they used the suspect's husband's cell phone to track her current location and a warrant was filed in Galveston County.

Police were called back to the residence around 8am Friday and found O'Donnell leaving the area. Officers stopped her vehicle as it entered League City on F.M. 518 and O'Donnell was taken into custody.

Investigators said they found an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle and an open flask of vodka in her purse.

Man charged with murder in west Harris Co. arrested

Yusef Villanueva was arrested at his home Wednesday.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man has been arrested, accused of killing another man in west Harris County earlier this month.

Yusef Villanueva was arrested at his home Wednesday. He's charged in the murder of Juan Reyna, 16. According to investigators, Reyna went to Villanueva's home on December 11.

Once inside, the two reportedly got into an argument. During that argument, deputies say Villanueva fired a shotgun one time, hitting Reyna once in the pelvis.

Reyna was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died during surgery.

Suspect charged in fatal shooting of innocent bystander outside nightclub

Police say they received several tips identifying a man in braids in surveillance pictures as 19-year-old Henry Dorsey. He's now charged in the fatal shooting.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A suspect has been charged with murder for a shooting that killed an innocent bystander.

Police say they received several tips identifying a man in braids in surveillance pictures as 19-year-old Henry Dorsey. He is not in custody yet.

According to court documents, Dorsey opened fire during a fight with the bouncers at Club Le Cave in northwest Harris County on Sunday. Timothy Powell, who was not involved in the fight, was killed.

Dorsey has previous convictions for evading police and assault

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of Dorsey to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Harris County has filed a nuisance lawsuit against Club Le Cave. According to the lawsuit, the shooting is just the latest in more than 60 crimes that have occurred at the club since April of last year. Those crimes include assault, robbery and drug possession.

The suit alleges the club's owner, Victoria Gonzalez, has done nothing to stop the activity.

The county wants a judge to require the club to pay bond and stop allowing nuisance activities. If the club violates its bond, it could be shut down.

Man, son, daughter charged with robbery in Katy area

  RICHMOND, TX -- A Houston-area man, his daughter and his son have been indicted over a credit union robbery by armed thieves in disguises.

Fort Bend County records show 50-year-old Ronald Catt, 20-year-old Hayden Catt and 18-year-old Abigail Catt were being held Friday on aggravated robbery charges. The men were jailed on bond of $140,000 apiece. The daughter's bond is $100,000.

Online jail records don't list attorneys for the Catts, who were arrested Nov. 9 and indicted Monday.

First Community Credit Union in the Katy area was robbed by two gunmen wearing orange traffic vests and sunglasses. One man had a fake moustache. The other wore a painter's mask. Abigail Catt allegedly drove the getaway vehicle.

Investigators are reviewing similar robberies in Texas and the Portland, Ore., area, where the Catts formerly lived.

Man charged in shooting death of one woman, seriously injuring another

Noe Aranda, 32, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man has been charged for shooting two women who were then pushed or jumped from a moving car last week on the Katy Freeway. One of those women was killed, the other seriously wounded.

Noe Aranda, 32, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The identity of the deceased 22-year-old victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The surviving victim, 21, remains in stable condition at an area hospital. Aranda shot both women several times.

Police say HPD patrol officers and Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies on October 11 responded to a scene that appeared to be an accident at 24000 Katy Freeway in which a female was struck by several vehicles.

Further investigation determined persons inside a blue Dodge Magnum had gotten into an argument. At some point, a weapon was produced and a woman either jumped or was pushed from the vehicle traveling westbound in the 20900 block of the Katy Freeway. This woman was transported to the hospital.

A second woman from the same vehicle was either pushed or jumped from the vehicle in the 24000 block of the Katy Freeway. She was struck by several vehicles and died at the scene.

Aranda, the driver of the Magnum, remains at large. His vehicle was recovered the day of the incident.

Police tell us Aranda is the same man who led police on a high-speed chase with four children in his vehicle back in April. He was charged with assaulting a family member, endangering a child and evading arrest in that case.

Police: Bus driver charged after leaving boy on bus

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A bus driver is facing a felony after police say she failed to check her bus for students and subsequently left a 9-year-old boy who had fallen asleep alone on the bus in a northwest Houston parking lot.

Nine-year-old Theo Jones says he's doing just fine now, and he's even back in school. We got a chance to talk to the boy about what happened Wednesday.

Theo says he was scared when he realized he was all alone on his school bus. No students, no bus driver.

"I woke up and there was nobody on the bus. I sat there for a minute and I got off the bus," Theo said.

According to police, it was during the morning bus route Wednesday when Theo fell asleep. The driver then finished her route, returned to the bus lot, parked and left.

Police say around 12:30pm is when Theo woke up and got off the bus, only to be met by a pit bull living behind the gate where the buses are parked.

"The dog was chasing after me and it jumped on me," Theo said.

Mary Martin says her husband heard the boy screaming for help and ran over. She says he was able to help the boy over the fence.

"They threw food at the dog and got the dog's attention while Albert, my husband, put his hands on the gate so the little boy could get on his hands and he could pull him over the gate."

Theo's mother, Meagan Jones, says she was at work when she got the phone call explaining what had happened.

"I was angry at first. I'm relieved that he is OK," she said.

The bus driver, Simona Alcaide, was arrested and charged with endangering a child, a felony charge. According to charging documents, Alcaide failed to check the bus for students before locking the bus and leaving the area.

"It's 30 seconds to check a bus, to walk it before you park it," Meagan Jones said.

HISD says the bus and driver are not employed by the district. Because Theo lives within a two-mile radius of the school, parents pay for a private bus company.

According to neighbors, that pit bull does live behind these gates and was not on the loose. Theo was taken to the hospital to be checked out after this incident. Again, he is OK.

Alcaide's bond has been set at $5,000.

Kingwood woman charged with third DWI

Shauna Michelle Richardson, 35, is charged with driving while intoxicated.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Kingwood woman has been charged with her third DWI.

Shauna Michelle Richardson is charged with driving while intoxicated. Police arrested Richardson Wednesday after a 911 caller witnessed her hit a curb and attempt to drive on a flat tire. Two kids, ages 2 and 4, were with her.

Just last month, she was arrested and charged with DWI after police say she nodded off in the drive-thru at McDonalds with a 4-year old in the back seat.

Richardson, 35, has two prior convictions of DWI, both in 2006.

Woman charged with stalking ex-boyfriend

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston woman is accused of stalking her ex-boyfriend.

Marva Aline Bryant, 27, is accused of stalking her ex from May until September of this year. Court documents say she threatened to break into his home, run over him with a car and choke him.

The man told police that he dated Bryant for about a month and ended the relationship in December 2011. He has made several police reports and says he is in fear for his life.

The victim says Bryant has repeatedly shown up at his apartment, thrown things at his door and vehicle, and sent threatening text and voice messages. She was caught on video banging on the victim's car in a McDonald's drive-through.

Police have repeatedly warned Bryant to stop harassing the man. She is charged with stalking, a felony. No bond has been set in the case.

Suspect charged in alleged abduction of ex-girlfriend and her son

Joseph Anthony Vallego, 21, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police have charged a man who they say abducted a woman and child yesterday morning that led to an Amber Alert briefly being issued.

Joseph Anthony Vallego, 21, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping. According to police, Vallego went to the northwest Houston home of his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, held several family members at gunpoint and demanded that the ex-girlfriend and her 7-year-old son leave with him.

Vallego then allegedly left the home with the mother and her son in a red Ford Expedition.

The vehicle was spotted soon after in the parking lot of the Western Inn at 1500 North Loop West. Vallego was taken into custody without incident. The woman and her child were not harmed.

Suspects charged in one of recent University of Houston campus robberies

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The University of Houston Police Department says they have made arrests in one of the recent campus robberies targeting students.

UH Police Chief Ceasar Moore announced the charges during a Friday morning news conference about the three aggravated robberies that took place on or near the campus last week.

Police say Ricardo Jamel Tangarife, the alleged gunman, and Anthony Theus, the store clerk accused of knowingly accepting a stolen credit card, were arrested Thursday in the campus robbery that took place on September 19.

According to police, within 45 minutes of the September 19th robbery, the suspects were seen using the student's stolen credit card on surveillance cameras at Memorial City Mall.

Authorities say Tangarife, 22, along with a woman identified as Sue Helen Ortiz, also known as "Roxy" and known to be a dancer at a local strip club, were both seen on surveillance using that credit card. Police say both bought several hundred dollars' worth of adult and children's shoes.

They say Theus, 21, was also in on the credit card scam.

Police are investigating to determine if these suspects could be connected to the other two robberies as well.

Police are still searching for the 19-year-old Ortiz and say charges are expected to be filed soon. They are also investigating additional persons of interest, including the getaway driver.

The announcement follows the appointment last Friday of an investigative task force focused on solving the crimes and the hiring of five new campus police supervisors, five new patrol officers and a full-time crime prevention officer.

Man accused of beating woman to death with bat charged with murder, sought by police

Edgar Gonzalez Zavala, 40, is charged with murder.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police need your help to find a man accused of beating a woman to death back in July.

Investigators say 42-year-old April Boggs was raped and then beaten to death with a baseball bat. Jewelry, cash, and her car were taken from her home in the 200 block of W. 18th Street. Police responded to a welfare check call after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from the residence and they found Boggs dead body on the kitchen floor.

Her landlord told police Boggs recently kicked out Edgar Gonzalez Zavala who had been staying with her.

Zavala was arrested in her car for suspicion of DWI in Colorado County, Texas, the same day of the murder on July 29, but officers there didn't know about it. He was released on bond.

A bloody baseball bat and jewelry were found in that car. DNA tests later linked Zavala to the murder.

Zavala, 45, is charged with murder.

Woman gives child to CPS, gets charged with abuse

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston couple is accused in the alleged abuse of a four-year-old girl left in their care.

On August 13, Eutha Nicole Oliver reportedly took the little girl to Children's Protective Services and told officials there she was turning over a child who had been left in her care. Court documents state that an ambulance then took the little girl to Memorial Hermann Hospital because she was suffering pelvic fractures as well as other bruises and injuries.

The girl reportedly told police that Oliver kicked and stomped on her, and whipped her with a belt on numerous occasions. The girl said the abuse began shortly after she arrived at Oliver's home on August 3 and continued daily until she was taken to CPS. She also told police that Oliver's husband did nothing to stop the abuse.

Oliver's husband, Shawn Conery Carter, told police no abuse ever happened at his home, that the girl arrived with some of the injuries, and inflicted some of the bruises on herself while she was there. He added that he and Oliver had even considering adopting the little girl, according to court documents.

Oliver is charged with injury to a child and Carter is charged with injury to a child by omission.

4 suspected human smugglers charged in Houston

  HOUSTON -- Four men from Mexico have been charged in a smuggling investigation that led to 82 suspected illegal immigrants rescued from a house in Houston.

Prosecutors say Luis Trejo-Onofre, Jose Santos-Solorzano, Jose Victor Perez-Olivas and Gumecindo Jaime-Martinez are charged with harboring, transporting and conspiracy to harbor and transport illegal immigrants. All remained in custody Wednesday pending initial court appearances in Houston.

The mother of a 16-year-old Nicaraguan girl flagged down a Houston police officer last week to report smugglers were holding the teen. The woman said she paid to have the girl transported but the smugglers demanded more cash.

A tip led to a Sept. 19 raid of a house and 82 immigrants from six countries. The girl was among those rescued. All were detained pending decisions on their immigrant status.

Murder suspect at large, charged in fatal club shooting

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police have charged a suspect in a fatal shooting that happened at a northeast Houston night club earlier this month, but they need your help to track him down.

Harold Brown, also known as "Scooby," is charged with capital murder. He is accused of fatally shooting three men and wounding three women September 2 at Club I.C.U. on Mesa Road.

Two male victims, 38-year-old Gilbert Kibble and 22-year-old Curtis Steward were pronounced dead at the scene. The third man, 26-year-old Felipe Castillo was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

All six victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The three women who were hit had non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

According to witnesses, two women had an argument inside the club and it spilled into the parking lot. Moments later, a large fight broke out.

Police say that's when Brown, 31, pulled out a gun and began shooting into the crowd.

Suspect charged with murder in deadly bar fight

  MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A man was killed early Saturday after intervening in a fight at a Montgomery County night club.

It happened around 12:45am at the Good Fortune Club in the 25100 block of Interstate 45 North in south Montgomery County.

When Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they found Christopher A. Dillon dead inside the club and several witnesses blaming the same person for his death -- 30-year-old Toriano Renauld Freeman.

According to witnesses, Freeman entered the club sometime after midnight and asked a customer to use his cell phone. The patron allowed Freeman to use his phone, but then he did not want to return it.

Deputies said a fight broke out and Dillon intervened. Freeman reportedly assaulted Dillon, punching him several times. Witnesses told deputies the victim fell to the floor unconscious and died.

Freeman fled the scene on foot. He was arrested around 10:30am at a convenience store at the intersection of Sawdust Road and I-45, near where deputies believed he lives.

Officials said Freeman was charged with murder. He was also wanted for an outstanding misdemeanor theft warrant.

Two women charged after allegedly ingesting cocaine-filled pellets

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two women are facing charges, accused of trying to smuggle cocaine into the US.

Azzie LaDawn Caldwell, 32, and Indira Doorga, 42, have been charged with importing cocaine into the US, conspiring to possess with intent to distribute as well as possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine, United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced Friday. Caldwell, of Detroit, Michigan, and Doorga, a citizen of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, were arrested at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) after it was determined they had allegedly ingested pellets containing cocaine.

The criminal complaint alleges that on Sunday, Caldwell and Doorga arrived at IAH aboard a flight from Trinidad and Tobago bound for Detroit. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents became suspicious when they received inconsistent statements from them regarding their purpose for travel, whether they knew one another or had traveled together. The investigative effort ultimately lead to x-rays, which allegedly revealed anomalies resembling pellets believed to contain a controlled substance. The women were each admitted to an area hospital.

Through further investigation, special agents of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) determined Drooga and Caldwell met in Trinidad earlier this month. Drooga had allegedly agreed to join Caldwell in importing cocaine into the United States in exchange for $20,000. According to the complaint, the women swallowed the pellets and inserted others into their vaginal canal before boarding their flight into the United States.

Caldwell and Drooga expelled a total of 38 and 51 pellets, respectively, which contained a substance that field tested positive for cocaine. Both women are in federal custody and were discharged from the hospital Thursday. They were expected to make their initial appearance before US Magistrate Judge Stephen Wm. Smith.

If convicted, each of the offenses charged carries a mandatory minimum of five years and up to a 40-year maximum term of imprisonment and millions in fines.

Five charged in prostitution sting at massage parlor

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Five people are now facing charges, accused of operating a massage parlor and charging people for sex acts.

Investigators raided Mystic Massage on the North Loop earlier this week. They say Jeffery Smith and Melissa Lindquist were running the prostitution operation. Both are charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution.

Jasmine Fleming was arrested for prostitution, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges and was sentenced to 10 days in jail.

Two other women were also charged with prostitution after the raid, but are currently not in custody. They told police they learned about jobs at the parlor through ads on the internet.

Man charged for allegedly torching ex's apartment

David Longiness Arriaga, 32, is charged with arson.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man has been charged for allegedly setting fire to his ex-boyfriend's apartment.

Arson investigators say an August 29th fire at a residence on Scharpe in southeast Houston was intentionally set by igniting window curtains and a couch using a combustible material.

Investigators spoke with the man renting the apartment who said he had been having problems with his ex-boyfriend, David Longiness Arriaga, that same day and that they had broken up three says earlier. The victim told police that Arriaga had been trying to reconcile their relationship ever since.

Court documents state the apartment's owners found two notes written on a bed sheet in the bedroom which read, "I never cheated on you and Rich, I only want u sorry I have to do this." The note was signed David.

The apartment's owner told police he saw Arriaga jump from the second story bathroom window at the exact time the fire started and that the incident was captured on surveillance video.

The victim told investigators that Arriaga has apologized multiple times through Facebook about what he did.

Arriaga, 32, is charged with arson.

Katy man charged in sex assault of neighbor's son

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 64-year-old Katy man is accused of sexually abusing his neighbor's son.

Grady Green is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child for the alleged abuse of the five-year-old boy.

According to court documents, Green's neighbor frequently went to his house to administer medications to his wife. On August 7, the mother told investigators she went looking for her son at one point while they were there.

She said she found the boy coming out of a second-floor bedroom with Green. Later that day, the child reportedly told his mother he had a stomachache and told her about the assault.

Three days later, the child was interviewed at the Children's Assessment Center about the alleged abuse. He revealed more details, which launched a police investigation.

Green was arrested Friday and remained in jail Monday without bond.
