Wounded warriors welcomed in Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There was an emotional scene at Bush Intercontinental Airport Friday morning as U.S. troops arrived in Texas for the 2012 Warrior's Weekend.

A large crowd of military personnel, police officers and civilians greeted more than 250 wounded service members at Terminal C. The troops got applause, handshakes, hugs and thanks for their service.

The veterans came to Texas from around the country and were overwhelmed by the welcome they received.

"It's crazy. There's a lot of people here," one veteran told us as she walked past the crowd. "I did not expect this kind of welcome."

The troops will spend the weekend deep sea fishing off Port O'Connor as part of the sixth annual Warrior's Weekend, organized by Wounded Warrior Project and MoMs USA.
