HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A vigil held for a shooting victim ended with the death of one of the mourners. It happened around 9pm on La Salette near Yosemite. Police say the people had gathered for a candlelight vigil for another person killed in the area when gunfire erupted.
"We believe there was about 300 people gathered for a vigil for a shooting victim from Tuesday on Alice," said Matthew Brady with the Houston Police Department Homicide Division. "Evidently some kind of altercation erupted in the middle of the street and one black male was shot."
The man died on the way to the hospital. No word yet on a possible suspect.
Police say a nearby home did have surveillance cameras so they will check to see if they captured the shooting scene.
