Police say a woman ran up to an officer making a traffic stop on Fondren and South Main last night and said she had been assaulted at a gas station across the street.

She pointed out a large man across the street. The officer approached and the man fled into a car wash and to the back of the station parking lot before lunging toward the officer.

The officer fired a shot and missed.

The suspect ran again, but the officer caught him and wrestled him to the ground.
