Man accused of shooting sleeping friend in the head

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston man is accused of shooting a friend in the head while he was sleeping on the couch last Saturday.

Marcus A. Gonzalez, 19, is charged with aggravated assault. According to court documents, a friend of Gonzalez was a guest at his apartment in the 300 block of West Little York. The friend was sleeping on the couch when he says he was shot at close range in the head, without warning.

The friend told police that Gonzalez continued shooting at him as he fought to get away. The victim said he fled to the apartment's bathroom, where he locked the door until Gonzalez left. The victim then left the apartment and flagged down a bystander, who called 911.

A doctor said the victim was shot twice in the head and twice in the arm. One of the bullets remains lodged in the victim's brain.
