Houston man busted with 33 lbs of cocaine in Louisiana traffic stop on I-10

AP  GROSSE TETE, LA -- Iberville Parish sheriff deputies have arrested a 41-year-old Houston man and booked him with possession of more than 33 pounds of cocaine.

Sheriff Brent Allain tells The Advocate deputies were conducting a traffic stops Thursday near Grosse Tete along Interstate 10 when they pulled over Christopher B. Wade for allegedly speeding.

Allain says deputies searched the suspect's car after they noticed Wade acting suspiciously during the traffic stop.

Allain said deputies then asked Wade for permission to search his vehicle.

The deputies found 15 packages of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

Wade was booked with speeding and possession with intent to distribute cocaine in excess of 400 grams.

He remains in the Iberville Parish jail. Bond has not been set.
