HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man died in the San Jacinto River overnight and now deputies want to figure out why. It happened around 7pm Friday just south of Old Beaumont Highway.
Witnesses told sheriff's deputies two men were on a rocky drop off when one of the men went underwater and never resurfaced.
Deputies are not sure if the victim was swimming or if he fell in.
His body was found about 10 to 15 feet from shore.
Auhorities identified the man Saturday as Jorge Ramirez.
