Man accused of assaulting prostitute with beer bottle

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is accused of punching and assaulting a prostitute with a beer bottle after an argument.

Court documents state Ali Abuhalaweh met the prostitute online and picked her up at her apartment. He allegedly told her that he wanted to have sex with her friend. They went to a motel in southwest Harris County in the early morning hours of August 21 where the friend had rented a room.

The victim says she left the room for about an hour and returned to find Abuhalaweh arguing with her friend. When the victim and her friend tried to leave, Abuhalaweh allegedly blocked the door, then kicked the victim and knocked her to the floor.

The woman says Abuhalaweh then grabbed a beer bottle and struck her on the head, then continued punching and kicking her.

The friend managed to escape. That's when the victim claims Abuhalaweh took the broken beer bottle and dug it into her thigh, causing a deep laceration. She says Abuhalaweh kept saying that he was going to kill her. The woman eventually escaped to get help.

Investigators say they tracked Abuhalaweh to a repair shop that he brought the victim to before they went to the motel. According to police, both the victim and her friend picked Abuhalaweh out of a photo array.

Abuhalaweh, 24, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
