Cement truck accident shut down I-45 for hours

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An accident involving a cement truck shut down all of southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway for hours, causing major traffic in the area.

The accident happened around 7:40am near Monroe. There's been no official statement on the accident, but an eyewitness says a tire on the truck blew, causing the driver to lose control.

No injuries were reported.

The accident caused a fuel and cement spill all over the roadway. All southbound lanes were closed for more than three hours as crews cleaned up the mess left behind from the accident.
