School principal loses bet, eats earthworms

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We have the story of one brave principal at Kipp North Campus. She had to eat earthworms after losing a bet.

Olive Hayden-Moore lost a bet with students who read more than 28,000 books. Chef Randy Rucker of Bootsie's Heritage Cafe prepared the worms, which are considered delicacies in some cultures.

"Actually, it really wasn't," said Hayden-Moore. "I thought it would be slimy. It really wasn't that bad. I'm not sure that I would order it on a menu somewhere, but Chef Rucker did a great job making it real palatable."

The event also launched the school's partnership with a program called 'Recipe for Success.' It's about encouraging children to eat healthy food.
