LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was found dead on his street in League City. It happened around 2:15am Sunday in the 1900 block of Acacia St. at Empress. The League City Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about a man down in the street and possible shots fired.
When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man lying in the middle of the road behind what appeared to be his pickup truck.
The vehicle was still running, officials said. The man had multiple gunshot wounds and was already dead.
There were no known witnesses to the crime, but a couple of neighbors heard gunshots.
According to investigators, the victim lives on that street.
Two people of interest -- one of them a friend of the victim -- were taken into custody for interviews, but no charges have been filed.
The victim's name has not been released, and police are working to establish a motive for the killing.
