LaFleur prostitution case reset for May 18

HOUSTON -- The scheduled Texas court appearance by former Southern University athletic director Greg LaFleur is set for next month.

That's according to Claire Kennedy, a spokeswoman for the Harris County Clerk of Court.

LaFleur's Houston-based attorney, Jed Silverman, tells The Advocate that LaFleur will be arraigned on May 1. LaFleur was arrested April 3 on a misdemeanor prostitution count while in Houston.

Three days later, the university announced it had fired LaFleur.

In a separate case, LaFleur is suing the school for breach of contract. He is seeking damages, including his base salary for the remainder of his contract, which he says was to expire June 30, 2013.
