Humble man dies snorkeling at Hawaii beach

KAILUA-KONA, HI -- Hawaii County officials plan on conducting an autopsy as part of their investigation into the death of a cruise ship passenger who lost consciousness and died during a snorkeling trip to a local beach.

Big Island police say Kenneth Clem of Humble, Texas was snorkeling with his wife and friends at Kahaluu Beach Park on Wednesday when he was found face down and unconscious in the water.

The Star Advertiser reports that after a lifeguard pulled the 65-year-old Clem from the water, he was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
