HPD officer charged with DWI

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An off-duty Houston police officer was charged with driving while intoxicated over the weekend, officials said.

According to the Houston Police Department, 33-year-old Jarrod Johnson was driving his personal vehicle on I-45 downtown around 1:45am Saturday when he was pulled over by a fellow officer.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated -- his first offense.

Johnson posted $500 bond and was released. He is slated to appear in county court April 21.

Officials said this case will be investigated by HPD internal affairs.

Johnson is an eight-year veteran on the force.
