Stranded driver struck and killed on N. Loop

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating a traffic accident in which a stranded driver was struck and killed.

Police say at about 1:30 this morning, the victim and his passenger were in a silver Infiniti G35 stalled out in the eastbound lanes of the 610 North Loop West near Ella when their vehicle was struck from behind by a black Dodge Charger.

The 19-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

A second victim, a female passenger, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The female driver of the Dodge was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for a mandatory blood test.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.

The accident was cleared just after 5am.
