Authorities say the 19-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A driver of a pickup truck lost control and slammed into a tree in the median in Houston's' southeast side. It happened on Clear Lake City Boulevard and Whitlock.
Officers say the 19-year-old driver of a pickup truck lost control and slammed into a tree in the median. The truck then flipped over and the driver was killed. A second passenger, also 19 years old, was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
He's expected to survive. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
