Suspect surrenders after 3-hour SWAT standoff

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A nearly three-hour SWAT standoff in northeast Harris County ended peacefully Sunday morning.

SWAT officers were called to the Aldine Apartments on Aldine Mail Route around 12:30am.

Deputies believe the suspect was randomly firing in the parking lot of the apartments. When they arrived, he barricaded himself inside an apartment and refused to leave.

According to investigators, the man surrendered peacefully around 5am. He was taken into custody. His name has not been released.

Man wanted in brutal murder surrenders to HCSO

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 22-year-old man accused of brutally murdering a woman in her southwest Houston apartment turned himself in to authorities Sunday.

Stephen Noah Dawkins has been charged with capital murder in the death of Altovise M. Mahone, 27.

Mahone's family discovered her body in her apartment around noon Saturday. They told police they had not heard from her in several days. Investigators determined she was killed late Thursday evening.

Authorities believe Dawkins fled in Mahoney's vehicle. It is also believed he stole other items from the apartment.

Dawkins surrendered to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, officials said. It was unclear if any of the stolen property was recovered.

Man surrenders after SWAT standoff

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A SWAT team was called out to a home in southeast Houston after authorities say a man threatened to hurt his wife and a one-year-old child.

It started around 10pm Saturday at a home on Newton near Fuqua.

A woman called police saying her husband said he was going to kill her and hurt their child.

The woman and the child were waiting outside when police arrived, but the husband had barricaded himself inside with a gun.

SWAT was called in and the standoff lasted more than two hours.

Eventually, the man started flashing the front porch light and came out of the front door with his hands up, surrendering with no shots fired.

No one was inured.

SWAT officers said they call this a good ending.
