Police investigate death of 3-month-old infant in southeast Houston

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating the death of an infant in southeast Houston.

Police say the three-month-old baby died at about 11:30pm Thursday at a home in the 7700 block of Glenvista. The boy's father fed him a bottle and then put him to bed at about 11pm.

The father woke up approximately 15 minutes later and says he found the baby cold to the touch and not responding. Houston Fire Department Paramedics were called to the scene and conducted CPR on the baby before transporting him to Texas Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The baby's identity and cause of death are pending autopsy results by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The police investigation is pending autopsy results.

Police investigate possible break-in at downtown library

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a possible break-in at the Houston Public Library in downtown Houston.

A security guard doing his rounds discovered a man on the main desk. Investigators say he was trying to log onto the library's computers at around 5am.

He told the security guard he works at the library but did not have a badge. He also allegedly told the guard he had to go to the bathroom and could not wait for the building to open.

That man is now in custody being questioned.

Police investigate fatal truck stop shooting

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An argument at a northeast Houston truck stop took a deadly turn early Saturday.

Several people watched as a man was shot to death around 3:30am at Love's truck stop on the North Loop East near McCarty, officials said.

According to witnesses and investigators at the scene, two men met in the parking lot. One man then went inside the store while the other drove around to the front door in his pickup truck.

The other man came back out of the store, and then witnesses say they started arguing.

Witnesses said the man in the pickup truck quickly drove over and blocked the other man from pulling out in his car. He got out of the truck, walked over to the car and shot the other man in the head.

His body was in the passenger's seat of the car when police arrived.

Police believe the victim was in his early 40s. His identity was not released.

A security guard and several witnesses kept the suspect at the scene until the Houston Police Department arrived.

The suspect was taken into custody. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Police investigate west Houston shooting

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man was recovering Saturday after being shot overnight in west Houston.

According to Houston police, the victim's fiance was at his apartment on Westbranch at Rodeo Square around midnight Friday when she heard a noise, went outside and found him stumbling down the sidewalk.

He had been shot an unknown number of times.

Police said she put him in her car and was going to take him to the hospital, but an ambulance arrived as they were leaving the parking lot.

The man was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition and is expected to recover.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
