Mansion under construction burns in The Woodlands

See it on TV? Check here.   THE WOODLANDS, TX (KTRK) -- Fire crews had to pull two alarms overnight when a mansion caught fire in The Woodlands.

It happened on Lamerie Way. Firefighters had to use more than a million gallons of water to put the fire out.

The fire was burning through a 12,000 square foot mansion that was under construction. No one lives there right now and the home doesn't have power, so investigators are treating this fire as suspicious.

Firefighters duck flying ammo as Magnolia house burns

See it on TV? Check here. AP  MAGNOLIA, TX -- A house fire in Southeast Texas ignited thousands of ammunition rounds, keeping firefighters away and allowing the old house to burn to the ground.

Magnolia County Assistant Fire Marshal Scott Burlin says the noon fire Thursday destroyed the rural house about 40 miles northwest of Houston near Magnolia. Burlin estimated the oldest part of the house was about 100 years old.

Bill Adams told The Courier of Conroe the house had been in his family since 1927 and contained hundreds of antiques reduced to ashes with the rest of the house. Among the antiques were about 40 guns, for which Burlin estimated there was about 100,000 rounds of ammunition in the house.

Adams also said one of his three dogs died in the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

Brush fire burns in SE Montgomery Co.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A brush fire is burning in southeast Montgomery County.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says the fire is at Sorters and McCoy near Porter in a densly wooded, unpopulated area between Spring Creek and San Jacinto River. Montgomery Co. Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams says the fire might have been caused by lightning. Ralph Cullom with Texas Forest Service says as of about 8:30pm the fire appears to be about 20 acres. It isn't contained but there is very little smoke and no large flames. He says there is a subdivision that appears to be about a mile or so away, and there is fire equipment at the edge of the subdivision in case the fire gets close. Cullom says about four area fire departments and the Texas Forest Service are at the scene. They're using two tractor plows to cut fire lines. Right now, no homes are threatened, and authorities are looking into the cause. No injuries have been reported so far and no structures are threatened. Massive fire burns at facility near Old Town Spring

DEMOND FERNANDEZSPRING, TX (KTRK) -- A few fire fighters were injured, people evacuated from their homes, some structures destroyed and hundreds left without water all because of a fire eyewitnesses say may have been start by two teens.

It started burning Friday afternoon around Aldine Westfield near Bayer, not far from Old Town Spring. By Friday night, firefighters were still keeping an eye on hot spots. Neighbors say they're upset it's all because a couple of teenagers may have taken a prank with matches way too far. It was an intense fire. "Man, smoke was everywhere," neighbor Tracy Karge said. And neighbors watched as the heavy smoke and flames quickly spread across the old Bayer Lumber Yard and dangerously close to homes. "It's pretty crazy. I've never seen anything like this or a fire like this around this area ever," neighbor Joshua Gorsett said. Some eyewitnesses are telling police they saw a couple of suspicious looking teens running from a hay barn as the fire started. "He saw a couple of kids. They ran out of the barn over there and went back over yonder somewhere, I guess where they live," Karge said. The fire got out of hand fast, burning at least eight acres. And the emergency workers had a tough time containing it. "With the wind and the dry conditions, initially before we got here, it already spread and even once we got there, it jumped over us a few times," said Scott Schoonover with the Spring Fire Department. It took about 100 firefighters from nine agencies to knock out the flames. Two of them had to be treated on scene for heat exhaustion. We also found out 900 people nearby were without water since the fire affected water tanks on the property which serves those homes. "With the dryness that we have and the people that live out here and the homes that are being lost and just livestock that's just out here in this part of Spring, just the sadness that's going on with everything else," Realtor Kevin Reynolds said. "It's just the last thing we need with everything that we've seen happening with our economy and this heat wave and the storms, it's just another added loss to somebody." Arson investigators were still on the scene late Friday, but they've yet to release details about who or what caused this fire. (Copyright ©2011 KTRK-TV/DT. All Rights Reserved.) Get more Local »

Fire burns at industrial site in Stafford

STAFFORD, TX (KTRK) -- Railroad officials in Stafford have reopened a stretch of track that was forced to close because of a fire at an industrial site.

A container at the facility on Highway 90 and Present caught fire last night. Firefighters from both Stafford and Missouri City put out the fire. Train traffic on a railroad that ran along the facility came to a stop because firefighters stretched their hoses across it.

The cause of the fire is unknown. No one was hurt.
