Suspects ask for victim by name in deadly SW Houston shooting

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say two murder suspects asked for their victim by name last night in southwest Houston before killing him.

The shooting happened at the Braes Court Apartment in the 88000 block of South Braeswood near Bissonnet around 8pm. Detectives say a woman heard a knock at the door and opened it. Two men asked for her husband by name and made their way in. Moments later, the woman heard gunshots and then discovered her husband lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The 28-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The two suspects fled the scene on foot. They are described only as black males with stocky builds, dressed in black clothing, who may have had their faces covered as they fled. One suspect may have also been carrying a backpack.

It is not yet clear what the motive was for the shooting.
