Pharmacy sustains major damage in fire in southwest Houston

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A fire broke out at a shopping center in southwest Houston overnight.

The Houston Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment in a strip center in the 14500 block of Main Street at Fondren at 12:46 this morning. Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes and discovered a smoldering fire in the Main Stop Pharmacy.

Approximately 45 firefighters responded to the incident which was extinguished about 1:20am. Officials say the fire started in the back room and spread.

A business next door sustained smoke and water damage, but no one was hurt.

The fire caused heavy smoke damage throughout the strip center. The fire is still under investigation, but investigators believe it was likely an accident.

Man robs Sugar Land pharmacy for $3K worth of prescription drugs

See it on TV? Check here.  SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Sugar Land pharmacy and got away with thousands of dollars in prescription drugs.

Sugar Land police say the man entered the Walgreens at 17330 Grand Parkway at around 8pm January 15, walked to the pharmacy and passed a note asking for prescription medication. The note indicated the man was armed with a gun, but he never displayed a weapon. The pharmacist complied, and the male left the store with prescription medications valued at approximately $3,000.

No one was injured.

Surveillance video of the suspect has been released.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male with light skin, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, 20 to 25 years old and weighing 160 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt with a hood, white and gray basketball shorts, white shoes and white knee-high socks.

  DICKINSON, TX (KTRK) -- Dickinson police arrested a man accused of breaking into a pharmacy early this morning.

Police say they observed Terrell Eley, Jr., 40, break out a front door window of a CVS pharmacy and enter the business. When police went in, they say they found Eley near the back of the store. They say he tried to elude officers on foot and was apprehended after a struggle with officers.

Eley has been charged with burglary of a building. Bond has been set at $60,000.

Dickinson police say there have been several burglaries of businesses in the area recently.
