Cement truck accident shut down I-45 for hours

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An accident involving a cement truck shut down all of southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway for hours, causing major traffic in the area.

The accident happened around 7:40am near Monroe. There's been no official statement on the accident, but an eyewitness says a tire on the truck blew, causing the driver to lose control.

No injuries were reported.

The accident caused a fuel and cement spill all over the roadway. All southbound lanes were closed for more than three hours as crews cleaned up the mess left behind from the accident.

Accident involving cement truck kills 1, injures another

 One person was killed in the accident Friday afternoon.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An accident involving a cement truck on the city's south side has left one person dead and another injured.

It happened this afternoon at Highway 288 and MacGregor. Police say a cement mixer came out of gear and rolled over two men working in front of it. A 50-year-old man was killed and another was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.

The truck belongs to Dorsett Bros.


An investigation is ongoing.
