Bathroom graffiti threat lands teen in felony trouble

KINGWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- An 18-year-old high school student is facing a felony charge over a threat involving guns, in the form of bathroom graffiti.

Last Wednesday, the principal of Kingwood High School, following up on a tip, discovered threatening graffiti on a bathroom wall. Court documents state that the drawing was of a gun pointing to a stick figure, with the name of an Humble ISD police officer, and stated "Kill Officer West." Other drawings also showed violence against officers, and one writing referred to shooting everyone at KHS.

Officials reviewed surveillance video from the hallway outside the restroom and interviewed witnesses to narrow down a time frame in which the graffiti appeared. They pulled Derick Richard Montelongo out of class and reportedly discovered in his possession several drawings that matched the ones in the restroom, as well as a marker matching the graffiti.

Montelongo, 18, is charged with exhibition of firearms, a felony charge. Bail has been set at $10,000 for the case.

Man faces charges after bomb threat hoax

NEW CANEY, TX (KTRK) -- A man was arrested Wednesday night after he called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office claiming he placed a bomb under a vehicle at the East Montgomery County Annex in New Caney and was about to detonate it.

Just after 11pm, Troy Don Tindall, 20, of New Caney called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line. Tindall told a call taker his first name and then stated he earlier placed a "chemical based bomb with shrapnel" beneath a Precinct 4 Constable's Office patrol vehicle parked at the annex. Tindall said he could see the vehicle and had a detonator, according to authorities.

A perimeter was established and the entire annex building was evacuated, officials with the Precinct 4 Constable's Office said. The annex contains multiple law enforcement offices, whose officers are in and out throughout the night, including the Precinct 4 Constable's Office, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol. Members of the county's custodial staff are also on duty at the annex overnight and the East Montgomery County Jail facility is staffed by the Sheriff's Office 24 hours a day and serves as a holding facility for inmates awaiting transfer to the main jail in Conroe.

Shortly after the perimeter was established and the evacuation was completed, Precinct 4 deputies noticed a white male, who turned out to be Tindall, walking east on McCleskey Road, which is near the annex. When deputies approached Tindall, he ran, at first continuing east on McClesky, then heading north into a wooded area. Precinct 4 deputies then pursued Tindall on foot, as Tindall yelled to them saying he had warrants. The foot pursuit lasted about 100 yards before one of the deputies apprehended Tindall. After his arrest, Tindall admitted making the bomb threat.

There was no bomb.

Troy Tindall is charged with false alarm or report of emergency (state jail felony) and evading arrest/detention (class B misdemeanor).

Baytown student charged in A&M bomb threat hoax

See it on TV? Check here.   BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- Baytown police have arrested and charged a high school student after he allegedly confessed to sending a bomb threat to a Texas A&M employee as a prank.

Texas A&M authorities launched an investigation Monday after a university staff member received an electronic bomb threat. During their investigation, detectives traced the IP address back to a computer located within the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District.

Baytown police were then contacted by the Texas A&M Police Department and further investigation led them to a 16-year-old student, who reportedly confessed to sending the message as a prank.

"This threat, and any like it, has to be taken very seriously," Baytown Police Chief Keith Dougherty said in a statement. "The public wants to know that our schools and children are safe. We want the public to know that pranks of this nature will not be tolerated, and that those who participate in them will be caught and punished to the fullest extent possible."

The student was arrested and transported to the Baytown City Jail where he was processed and later released to the custody of his parents. Charges of terroristic threat against an institution, a third-degree felony punishable by 2-10 years imprisonment and a fine up to $10,000, were accepted Monday by the Harris County District Attorney's Office. School officials are also taking action against the student and advised that he would be assigned to the School Community Guidance Center (SCGC) for the next 30 days.
