Driver died after crashing SUV into ditch

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are investigating a Christmas morning accident that killed a driver in southeast Houston.

At about 7am, a Chevy Suburban traveling easton Rowe crashed into a ditch at Ballantine, about a mile straight south of Hobby Airport. Two people were in the truck at the time of the wreck.

The male driver died at the scene. His female passenger was injured and taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Police say there weren't any witnesses to the crash, and they're hoping to talk to the passenger to determine what happened.

Driver ends up crashing into retention pond

See it on TV? Check here.   HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A car was found this morning in a retention pond in north Houston.

It happened at Imperial Valley and Aldine Bender. No one appeared to be inside that vehicle. A wrecker driver on scene told us the car plowed through the fence, went into the water and then the driver jumped out and ran away.

Police are now investigating.

Woman arrested after crashing into gas pump

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police arrested a woman who crashed into a gas pump at a gas station in north Houston overnight.

It happened at the Raceway on FM 1960 at Imperial Valley. Police say the woman was likely drunk when she slammed into the gas pump. She tried to run away after the accident, but officers arrived quickly and arrested her.

The gas pump was dislodged slightly, but wasn't leaking.

The driver now faces a number of charges.

Motorcyclist dies after crashing into stalled vehicle

Houston police said a motorcyclist was killed after slamming his bike into the back of this SUV, which was stalled on the Highway 290 early Saturday. Houston police said a motorcyclist was killed after slamming his bike into the back of this SUV, which was stalled on the Highway 290 early Saturday.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcycle rider was killed early Saturday in a collision in northwest Houston.

Around 3am, the motorcyclist was traveling outbound on U.S. 290 near Tidwell. Witnesses say he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic as he approached a sports utility vehicle stalled in the left lane.

The motorcycle slammed into the back end of the SUV. The man on the motorcycle died at the scene. Police say he was wearing a helmet, but the impact was so great that it flew off.

No one else was injured in the accident, officials said.

U of H student dies after crashing into big rig

 A driver's car roof was sheered off by an 18-wheeler after the driver slammed into it overnight.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A driver was killed when he crashed into an 18-wheeler in northeast Houston.

It happened around 9pm last night on the North Loop near McCarty. Police say the 18-wheeler was traveling down McCarty and tried to make a left turn. That's when the driver of a car drove under the trailer, cutting the top of the car off. The 21-year-old driver was a student at U of H and died instantly. The truck driver was not hurt.

Police are investigating to see which driver ran the red light.


The victim's identity hasn't been released.
