Vacant house destroyed by huge fire

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Firefighters were called to a fire at a home on Mansfield near Shirley Mae in northwest Houston.

Crews found the vacant one-story house fully engulfed in flames around 1:30am. Firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 15 minutes. No one was injured.

Arson teams are investigating the cause of that fire.

Three-alarm fire breaks out at vacant apartments

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Fire Department is currently battling a 3-alarm fire in northwest Houston.

HFD was dispatched to the vacant apartment fire in the 4700 block of Airline at about 4pm. Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes and found heavy fire coming from the structure.

A second alarm was called about 4:20pm with a third alarm called for more manpower just before 5pm.

The fire was contained to one building, and no injuries have been reported.

About 35 HFD units are on scene and arson investigators have been requested to determine the cause. The Houston Police Department is also assisting with traffic control.

Arson investigating vacant house fire in NE Houston

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a fire at a vacant house in northeast Houston.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Florida Street at Brewster Street around 3:30am Sunday.

When responders arrived, heavy flames were shooting from the one-story, wood-frame house.

Firefighters made a fast attack and got the blaze under control.

According to officials, the last resident of the house just moved out a couple weeks ago.

The fire appears to have started on the front porch with the possible use of an accelerant, investigators said.

No one was injured.
