Traffic Alert: Parts of West Sam Houston Tollway closed this weekend

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We have a major traffic alert to tell you about this weekend for drivers on the west side.

All southbound lanes of the West Sam Houston Tollway will be closed between Hammerly and Memorial. The closure starts Friday night at 10pm and ends Saturday at 8am. Motorists will have to exit Hammerly and re-enter southbound at Memorial

Then starting Saturday night at 10pm, all northbound lanes between Memorial and Clay will be closed until noon on Sunday. Drivers will have to exit Memorial and re-enter northbound at Clay. The eastbound and westbound I-10 connectors to northbound West Sam Houston Tollway will also be closed.

Road crews will be shutting parts of the Tollway down for pavement markings.

Harris County considers tollway along Tomball Parkway

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Harris County is looking into the possibility of adding a tolled segment to the Tomball Parkway to accommodate increased traffic.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the county's toll road authority is asking that it be allowed to look at Highway 249. The extension could run from Spring-Cypress Road to FM 1774.

Toll road officials emphasize this is only a preliminary study.
