Ex-basketball star from Houston accused of fixing games

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A former college basketball player from Houston is accused of fixing games.

"Brandon Johnson, University of San Diego's starting point guard in the 2009-2010 season and the school's all-time leader in points and assists was intricately involved in both the illegal gambling business and in the sports bribery schemes," said Laura Duffy with U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego. Johnson was arrested Saturday in Jersey Village. He's charged with taking a bribe to fix a game in February 2010, and soliciting another player to take a bribe after he left the university. Prosecutors allege the Willowridge High School graduate and nine other suspects fixed games so they could bet on them. It's unknown how much money was involved. (Copyright ©2011 KTRK-TV/DT.
