Motorcyclist dies after highway crash

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 21-year-old man died Saturday night after a motorcycle accident in southwest Houston.

Police said the man was traveling south on the West Loop at a high rate of speed around 9:15pm Saturday.

According to witnesses, he was weaving in and out of traffic and suddenly lost control over San Felipe. He hit the outside wall, laying the motorcycle down.

The man and the motorcycle skidded about 100 yards.

He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Houston police shut down the West Loop while they investigated the accident, creating a traffic backup all the way to U.S. 290.
