Metal singer accused of manslaughter performs in Houston

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A heavy metal singer charged in the death of a fan in Europe was in downtown Houston Thursday night, performing in a concert at Bayou Place.

Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe was indicted for manslaughter Monday by authorities in the Czech Republic. Two years ago, a fan jumped on stage during a concert and was shoved by Blythe. The fan fell and died of a head injury two weeks later.

"The government over there, they posted a video of it and all that, and it showed the security guy pushing him off and he runs into him and he just kinda shoved and the guy just fell off stage," Lamb of God fan Scott Fisher said.

KTRK legal analyst Joel Androphy says this is a security issue. He also says the singer would not have been charged in the United States.

Suspects sought in metal thefts at multiple area pharmacies

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for a rash of metal thefts at area retailers.

Over a period from February to August 2012, police say at least 16 metal thefts have occurred at CVS Pharmacies throughout Houston and unincorporated Harris County. Seven significant thefts occurred in June and July alone. In the most recent incident, surveillance cameras captured the suspect's actions.

On August 16 at approximately 3:45am, a white truck (possibly a Ford F-150) pulled alongside the pharmacy located in the 4900 block of FM 1960. An unidentified male suspect exited the truck, and entered into a fenced off area where the business' HVAC unit and other utilities were located. There he struck repeatedly at the business' utility systems until he was able to remove a significant amount of copper metal from the scene. The suspect fled in an unknown direction after the theft.

HPD: Man tried to steal sheet metal from employer

Police say someone saw an employee of this store jump the fence Sunday. That employee was arrested

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An employee at a sheet metal business could be out of a job soon.

Officials say he was caught stealing merchandise from his boss at Eldred Sheet Metal Works on Hays at Chapman near downtown Houston.

A man working next door allegedly saw the suspect jump the fence at the sheet metal business.

Police were already in the area and arrested the suspect.

Piece of metal rips open semi on freeway overpass

Constructions spent the night repairing a freeway overpass.

  HOUSTON (KTRK) -- TxDOT had to inspect the East Freeway after a piece of metal ripped open the top of a big rig last night.

It happened on the eastbound side of the freeway near Meadow just after 11pm. Police say the metal ripped open the 18-wheeler like a can opener. HPD shut down the freeway to prevent other trucks from hitting the metal.

TxDOT removed the metal from underneath the overpass, but closed it for about three hours to make sure it was safe for your morning drive.
