Cyclists take off on MS 150 ride to Austin

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- More than 12,000 cyclists started a journey from Houston to Austin, all to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.

The BP MS 150 began Saturday morning as riders departed from Tully, Rhodes and Waller Stadiums.

The day ends with the official overnight at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange before the finish line in Austin on Sunday.

The 180-mile journey is organized by the National MS Society Lone Star Chapter.

Last year, cyclists raised more than $16 million.
